Regency is a free strategy game. It keeps nothing about you once your game is over: no accounts, no cookies, no ads, no analytics and no third-party services. This page explains what it does handle while you play, why, and what you can do about it.
Who runs Regency
Walrus Games, United Kingdom. We decide what Regency handles and why, so we're
responsible for it under data protection law (the "controller").
Questions or requests about your data:
What we handle and why
| What | Why, and on what basis | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The name, colour and coat of arms you pick, and your moves in the game | To run the game and show them to the other players in your room (to provide the service you asked for, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). | Only in the server's memory while the room exists. Never written to disk or logged. |
| Your IP address | Needed for your browser to connect at all (to provide the service, Art. 6(1)(b)). | Only while you're connected. Never written to disk or logged. |
| Saved in your own browser: your name and coat of arms, your current game, your display settings (theme, text size and so on), the arcade's sound setting and best score | So the form is filled in next time, a refresh puts you back in your seat, and the game looks the way you chose. This stays on your device. It isn't a cookie, and as it only keeps what you asked for, it doesn't need your consent (UK PECR, EU ePrivacy rules). | Until you clear your browser's site data. |
Where it's hosted
Regency runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH in Helsinki, Finland, under a data processing agreement. Your data is never sold or shared, and fonts and all other files come from our own server.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we have about you, and give you a copy
- correct it, or delete it
- stop or limit using it
To use any of these, email us at the address above. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. As Regency keeps nothing once a room closes, the answer will usually be that we have nothing about you. What's saved in your browser you can delete yourself by clearing this site's data.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint) or, in the EU, to the data protection authority where you live or work.
Children
Regency doesn't ask anyone's age and doesn't collect more from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
